CD Projekt RED has announced that the upcoming remake of the first game in The Witcher franchise, being developed using Unreal Engine 5, will be a fully open-world title.
The studio didn’t provide much more information beyond this, only saying that it will be a “story-driven, single player open-world RPG – a modern reimaging of 2007’s The Witcher.” in its third quarter results presentation.
This will feel entirely different from the 2007 title for anyone who has played the more recent Witcher games, as it is an open-world game.
The current-gen update for The Witcher 3 will release on December 14, 2022.
