Fans looking forward to setting sail in Pywel will have to wait just a little bit longer. Developer Pearl Abyss has announced that the upcoming paid expansion for Crimson Desert, titled Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown, has been delayed by two weeks. Originally scheduled to launch on October 15, the DLC will now release on October 29 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Why the Delay?
In a post shared on social media, Pearl Abyss explained that the extra time is necessary to polish the expansion before launch: “Hello, Greymanes.
“We are hard at work on Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown to bring you new adventures to Pywel.
“However, we have determined that we need additional development time to deliver a more polished and stable gameplay experience. Therefore, we have decided to move the DLC’s release by 2 weeks to October 29 GMT/PT.
“We know many of you have been looking forward to returning to the game and we sincerely apologize for the longer wait. We will use the additional time to further refine the content and do our utmost to deliver the best experience we can.
“We look forward to seeing you in Pywel on October 29 GMT/PT.”
What to Expect in Charting the Unknown
The narrative will pick up after the events of the base game, following Kliff, Oongka and Damiane as they embark on another journey across Pywel.
“The story of Pywel continues in Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown as Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane set out to discover their purpose and shape their futures,” reads the official press release.
“However, as turmoil unfolds around them, each must fight to forge a path through the trials ahead. Join them on a new adventure and discover what new possibilities await across Pywel.”
While a two-week delay is a slight setback, the extra polish should ensure a smoother journey when Charting the Unknown arrives on October 29.
