Despite recent speculation suggesting the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 6 could slip into 2027, Playground Games is continuing to publicly maintain that the open-world racing title will arrive on Sony‘s console before the end of 2026.
The latest confirmation came somewhat quietly in a new blog post outlining the game’s newest update, which focuses on British cars. Near the bottom of the post, Playground Games once again addressed the upcoming PlayStation 5 release.
“If you’re planning your trip to Discover Japan on PlayStation 5, stay tuned! Forza Horizon 6 will be releasing on PS5 later this year, and you can add the game to your Wishlist on the PlayStation Store to be notified of availability.”
While the statement doesn’t provide a specific release date, it is nevertheless the latest official indication that the PS5 port remains scheduled for 2026.
Rumors Previously Pointed to a Potential Delay
The wording itself isn’t new, as Playground Games has used the same message in previous updates. However, its continued inclusion is notable following reports and speculation that the PlayStation 5 version may no longer make its originally expected release window.
Previously, journalist Tom Warren of The Verge suggested that he did not expect the PS5 edition of Forza Horizon 6 to launch in 2026. That fueled speculation that Sony players might have to wait until next year to get behind the wheel.
Playground Games has yet to announce any delay, though, and its latest blog post continues to point toward a release before the end of the year.
Of course, the repeated wording could simply mean that an official change of plans has not yet been announced. Until Playground Games provides a more concrete release date or says otherwise, however, the studio’s official position remains unchanged.
More Content Is Still on the Way
Forza Horizon 6 originally launched earlier this year for Xbox Series X|S and PC, bringing the long-running racing franchise to Japan for the first time. The game has since received multiple updates and free additions as Playground Games continues to expand its world and vehicle roster.
The latest update’s focus on British cars is another example of the developer’s ongoing post-launch support, but fans are still waiting for the game’s first major paid expansion.
Two expansions are currently planned for Forza Horizon 6, raising the possibility that Playground Games could potentially coordinate the PS5 launch with the arrival of the first DLC. Nothing along those lines has been officially confirmed, but it would provide a significant moment for the game’s broader rollout.
For now, PlayStation fans will have to wait for a firm date. Still, despite the uncertainty surrounding the port in recent weeks, Playground Games is continuing to say that Forza Horizon 6 will release on PS5 later in 2026.
