The videos, which have been making the rounds on social media, show what appears to be various pieces of development footage for an upcoming Grand Theft Auto game.
The hacker, who goes by the name “teapotuberhacker,” claimed to have stolen “unreleased source code” for multiple Rockstar games when they breached Rockstar Games’ systems earlier this month.
The leak’s validity has now been confirmed by Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier(opens in new tab), who said, “Not that there was much doubt, but I’ve confirmed with Rockstar sources that this weekend’s massive Grand Theft Auto VI leak is indeed real. The footage is early and unfinished, of course. This is one of the biggest leaks in video game history and a nightmare for Rockstar Games.”
Leaker has now tweeted that the footage is “GTA 6 beta which comes from 2019-2020.” He also said that “GTA 6 is practically finished, including trailers, promotional art, etc.”
He also threaten to release all the files if the “Rockstar doesn’t contact me.”
