A friend-turned-vampire-hunting-partner might be the update The Blood Of Dawnwalker didn’t know it needed, and modders have already delivered it.
It’s been barely more than a week since The Blood Of Dawnwalker launched in early September, yet the game has already built a modding scene active enough to produce a working co-op experience. That’s a remarkably fast turnaround for any open-world RPG, let alone one still fresh enough that its developers are simultaneously teasing plans for a sequel.
The mod in question, Dawnwalker Together, comes from NexusMods creator MrSecondPlayer and introduces split-screen functionality to a game that launched as a strictly single-player affair. With it installed, players can roam Dawnwalker‘s world, take on its monster-hunting combat, and even push forward through story content with a second person along for the ride.
Word of the mod spread after X user AshenOne_VI highlighted the project, drawing attention to just how much functionality MrSecondPlayer managed to pack into an early build. It’s not a finished, polished multiplayer suite — there are clear feature gaps compared to something like the long-running Witcher 3 multiplayer mod, which has had years to mature. But as a first pass, it demonstrates that Dawnwalker‘s world and systems can support a shared-screen experience without falling apart.
That’s no small feat for a game this new. Multiplayer mods for single-player RPGs typically take shape gradually, often built on modding tools and community knowledge that accumulate over months or years. Dawnwalker Together instead arrived almost immediately, suggesting the game’s underlying systems were flexible enough for a solo modder to hook into early.
Whether the mod continues to expand will likely depend on community interest and how much support MrSecondPlayer keeps investing in it. For now, though, it stands as an early proof of concept: even in its first days on the market, The Blood Of Dawnwalker already has fans looking for ways to explore it together.
